Rip Rap is a large, heavy-duty granite stone made up of irregular, angular pieces. Unlike river rock, it is not rounded, allowing the stones to interlock and stay firmly in place. This makes Rip Rap one of the best materials for controlling erosion, stabilizing slopes, and protecting areas exposed to moving water.

Its large size and durability make it ideal for residential, commercial, and municipal drainage projects where long-term stability and erosion protection are essential.

Important Notes

Rip Rap performs best when installed at a minimum depth of 4" to provide maximum stability. Its angular shape allows the stones to lock together, making it ideal for areas with heavy water movement and erosion concerns. Due to its large, rough texture, it is not recommended for walkways or decorative groundcover. Installing landscape fabric beneath the stone is recommended to improve stability and help reduce weed growth.
